The Guardian

We call him "Shep".  He is the 'newcomer' around the farm. There were some questions about what he would be like and will he play with us? I believe there still are some wonderings about him by the smallest one in our family. He is, after all, very large.  It is to his advantage though, his size that is.
Shep is meant to intimidate "the locals", the ones that live in the woods. Spring is coming. With the joy of spring comes the new lambs and the calves. The chickens are freed from their winter shelter, scratching and searching for food. Someone else is also searching for food too. Shep will help them to think twice before trying for a chicken dinner.
We are very excited to have him here. He is the sweetest guard dog you will ever meet, I am sure of it. He is not meant to scare off people, just the unwanted predator. So far he has been a great alarm whenever anything is moving about, especially at night. Everyone is really enjoying him. Everyone, except the cats.
